French King Pie Traditions and Vocabulary

Le 6 janvier, c'était l'épiphanie, une fête catholique célébrant la visite des rois mages à l'enfant Jésus. Ce jour-là (et en fait pendant tout le début du mois de janvier), les Français mangent "une galette des rois", une tarte feuilletée avec une surprise à l'intérieur !

On January 6th was Epiphany, a Catholic holy day celebrating the visit of the three wise men to baby Jesus. On that day (and actually during the whole beginning of January), the French eat "a king pie", a puff pastry pie with a surprise inside!
