Poisson d'Avril et Pâques en France

Bonjour mes chers étudiants de français,

Many things are happening in France this week. First of all, tomorrow (Wednesday) is "le premier avril" (April's fool). In France, the traditional prank is to attach a paper fish on the back of your victims, make fun of them and then yell "poisson d'avril" when it's discovered. But there will be many jokes on TV etc... Read more about it in my article.

More seriously, this coming Monday is Easter, a major Catholic Holiday. In France, it's called "Pâques" (watch out, no article: "La Pâque" is Passover). There is much to say about Easter in France, so I suggest you read this more religious/history related article, as well as my own article on the subject of Easter and it's various French traditions.

I'll be adding a lot of my social medias about Easter in France, including our own recipe for a perfect lamb, a fancy egg and asparagus "entrée", various pictures of French "cloches de Pâques", a recording of the Catholic mass in French etc...
So join me on my FacebookTwitter and Pinterest pages!

Joyeuses Pâques!

Les Traditions de Pâques en France
"Pâques" is an important holiday in France: a religious one of course, but also a traditional gathering for families, religious or not. Kids go egg hunting (you can see our daughter Leyla in action), but our egg providers are a bit different: magic bells!! And we traditionally cook a large meal with a leg of lamb, and set a lively table to honor the coming of Spring time.

List of French Clothes and French Clothing Vocabulary - Les Vêtements

Bonjour mes chers étudiants de français,

For this week's new article, I have put together a long list of clothes. I will soon be adding a list of shoes, underwear and accessories, as well as a long list of adjectives used to describe clothing and a "learn French in context easy story". So stay put :-)

If you would like to suggest some (common) clothes to add to my article, don't hesitate to do so by sending me a message on Facebook. Unfortunately, there are sometimes typos in my articles - don't hesitate to contact me to point them out, I very much appreciate it. The best way to contact me is through Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/frenchtoday

As usual, I'll be posting daily mini lessons and tips on my FacebookTwitter and Pinterest pages - so join me there!

À la semaine prochaine and good luck with your French studies,

Camille Chevalier Karfis
