From Camille Chevalier-Karfis, your Guide to French Language

Hello everyone!

My name is Camille Chevalier-Karfis and I'm really happy to announce that I am your new French language expert.  I just started this Wednesday but I wanted to quickly introduce myself to you.

It will be a tough job following in Laura's footsteps but I'm super excited about this opportunity to help you learn and appreciate the wonderful French language.

You might recognize my name from the old forums where I was a moderator for several years as well as from the multiple articles I contributed to the About site in the past.

Let me tell you some quick info about me (more details in my profile):

  • I've been teaching French to adults for the past 20+ years
  • I'm a Paris native but also US citizen (I lived 16 years in Boston)
  • I currently live in a small coastal town in northern France where they cultivate incredible oysters and scallops
  • I specialize in teaching French as it is spoken today and created many audiobooks and lessons on the modern French language
  • My husband and I created French Today that we run from our home (and sometimes still in pyjamas)
  • I'm addicted to long swims in the sea (even when the water temperature is 17° C/63° F)

I will be writing many articles which will start appearing on the site next week, in the mean time, feel free to follow me on Facebook and Twitter where I post daily mini-lessons. There's even a free 30 minute French audio lesson when you Like the page on Facebook so you'll also get to know my voice (and yes, I do have a bit of a French accent when I speak English, I can't shake it off :-)

That's it for this week.  I am planning to send these newsletters every week on Tuesdays so I'll see you all next week with some new articles.

Cheers,

Camille
