From Camille Chevalier-Karfis, your Guide to French Language

 Mes chers étudiants de français,

This week, I'll answer 3 delicate questions you wished you could ask when invited in a French home.

With Halloween at the end of the month, I've also written an article about the French Halloween vocabulary and the French traditions for Halloween (or the lack of them)!

Next week, I'll publish a "Learn French in Context" easy story about Halloween, with a side by side translation, so you can practice the vocabulary you just learned.

As usual, you'll find more daily tips and mini lessons on my Facebook and Twitter pages.

See you there!

Cordialement,

From Camille Chevalier-Karfis, your Guide to French Language

Bonjour mes chers étudiants de français,

This is officially my first newsletter (the one sent out on Sunday was apparently sent automatically by the About system - this should not happen again - my newsletters will always have a personal intro).

So, what's new in French on About? Well, I'm relatively new :-) My name is Camille, and I started as the French expert of About two weeks ago. I've been teaching French to adults for over 20 years, and one of my specialties is to write easy "learn in context" stories.

This week, you will review the French beach, sea and water sports vocabulary in the form of two easy stories taking place at the beach. First you'll follow my daughter Leyla as she builds sand castles, then I'll take you swimming with me!

Make sure you read my "how to use the learn in context stories" to make the best of these French lessons!

I am thrilled at the opportunity to help you learn French :-) For more daily tips and lessons, join me on Facebook and Twitter

Until next week, cheers

Camille

Top 6 French Pronunciation Books
Pronunciation tends to be the most difficult aspect of learning French. It takes a lot of practice to pronounce French correctly, but if you want to speak well, good French pronunciation is essential. Nothing kills conversation faster than an inability to make yourself understood. These resources include detailed explanations of French sounds and some audio tools for listening/speaking practice.

Top Bilingual French Dictionaries
When buying a French dictionary, you need to consider your language proficiency and what you'll be using the dictionary for. It's also important to keep in mind that bilingual dictionaries are a great tool, but they can have discrepancies, both major and minor. Their main weakness is in offering words that are no longer used. The following French-English / English-French dictionaries are arranged by quantity and quality of entries.
