EarnForex.com Monthly Newsletter
*September 3, 2013*
Welcome to the latest issue of EarnForex.com newsletter — September
2013.
In this issue of EarnForex.com newsletter I will remind you about the
most important Forex-related events of the last month and will also
show you the list of the site's latest updates.
*
Overview of the major currency pairs' performance in August*
*EUR/USD* — the pair moved with sideways with some bullish incline
but also with strong downward corrections. It was at the maximum at
1.3452 on August 20, at its minimum at 1.3173 on August 30, finishing
the month at 1.3221.
*GBP/USD* — rallied up with two significant corrections — in the
beginning and in the end of the month. The highest monthly rate was at
1.5717 on August 21, while the lowest — at 1.5102 on August 2.
GBP/USD finished August trading at 1.5490.
*USD/JPY* — moved sideways but also demonstrated some upward bias.
The pair rose to as high as 99.94 on August 2, reaching a bottom at
95.81 on August 8 and closing the month with the 98.09 rate.
*EUR/JPY* — had a slightly bullish development during the month. The
monthly high was at 132.42 on August 23, the monthly low — at 127.96
on August 12. Trading ended at 129.73 for this currency pair.
*GBP/JPY* — rose up significantly. The maximum level for this pair
was 154.67 on August 23, while the minimum — 147.61 on August 7. The
month's trading ended at 152.16 for GBP/JPY.
*
Fundamental background of the past month*
The *US dollar* ended August with gains
<http://www.topforexnews.com/2013/08/31/dollar-ends-week-month-gains/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
. For the most part, it was because of the old story - potential
quantitative easing tampering
<http://www.topforexnews.com/2013/08/21/us-dollar-after-fed-minutes-broadly-stronger/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
in September. By the end of the month another bullish factor emerged:
a possible US attack on Syria
<http://www.topforexnews.com/2013/08/29/dollar-strong-syria/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
.
Consequently, the *euro* was falling amid risk aversion that has
caused the dollar's rally. The European Central Bank hurt the currency
<http://www.topforexnews.com/2013/08/01/eurusd-dips-as-ecb-holds-rates/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
at the start of the month, indicating that monetary policy will
likely stay extremely accommodative for a long time. Even the end of
recession
<http://www.topforexnews.com/2013/08/14/its-official-eurozone-recession-is-over/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
and generally positive macroeconomic data
<http://www.topforexnews.com/2013/08/30/latest-unemployment-report-cant-help-euro/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
did not help the shared 17-nation currency much.
The *Great Britain pound* ended the month on a strong note, helped by
good reports
<http://www.topforexnews.com/2013/08/15/no-end-to-good-reports-from-uk-sterling-higher/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
and comments of policy makers
<http://www.topforexnews.com/2013/08/29/uk-pound-gets-help-mark-carney/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
. Yet there were concerns
<http://www.topforexnews.com/2013/08/30/pound-ends-month-biggest-gains-vs-euro-year/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
that economic recovery is already priced in and the currency needs a
new bullish story to keep the rally going.
The *yen* was trying to rally on the same risk-negative sentiment
<http://www.topforexnews.com/2013/08/28/yen-attempts-rally-risk-aversion/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
that was driving the greenback up and advanced against some riskier
currency, but against most major currencies it ended August flat.
Expectations of additional attempts from policy makers
<http://www.topforexnews.com/2013/08/23/yen-weakens-ahead-of-kurodas-speech/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
to weaken the currency sapped the strength of the yen.
The *Australian dollar* was quite strong
<http://www.topforexnews.com/2013/08/10/aussie-ends-week-with-solid-gains/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
in the first half of the past month, especially as the central bank's
statement
<http://www.topforexnews.com/2013/08/06/aussie-bounces-even-as-rba-cuts-rates/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
made traders think that the Reserve Bank of Australia is done with
interest rate cuts. Yet the minutes were clearly dovish
<http://www.topforexnews.com/2013/08/20/rba-releases-dovish-minutes-aussie-down/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
, resulting in decline of the Aussie. The Australian currency ended
August with a loss against most other majors, though it was relatively
small.
*Gold* rallied for the second straight month, but there were reasons
for gold bulls to remain cautious. The precious metal was suffering
from speculations about QE reduction
<http://www.commodityblog.com/precious-metals-still-suffer-from-qe-reduction-talks/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
and was often failing to rally
<http://www.commodityblog.com/oil-rallies-on-syrian-problem-precious-metals-fail-to-follow/?utm_source=n201309&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=n201309>
on events that should have been supportive.
